We have been very fortunate that we have been able to stay safe and well during the coronavirus lockdown but, of course it has meant that we haven’t been able to perform in public venues. We were asked to record some songs for a local online concert though and you can see these here.
Lots of gigs for The Close Knit Band this December. As well as our regular performances at local Day Centres, we had a number of bookings in new venues, including John Masefield House in Burcot and two gigs in Bicester. It was lovely to perform for new audiences across Oxfordshire and to be able to raise money for a variety of charities. The worthy recipients this month have been Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary, Jessie’s Fund and the Oxford León Association fund for clean water installation in Nicaragua.
The Millstream Day Centre in Benson asked us for a Halloween themed set for this month’s gig there. Cue lots of songs featuring moons, ghosts, monsters and devils. Admittedly some of the links to Halloween were a little tenuous but the songs went down really well and many turned into singalongs. By The Light Of A Silvery Moon and Moon River were particular favourites today.
Looking forward to performing alongside some wonderful other acts in Summertown this Saturday.
Just arrived back exhausted, from our trip to Nottingham. It was worth it though. The audience at Falcon House, Beeston clearly enjoyed themselves. They sang along, waved clapped and conducted us. Afterwards, the feedback was very generous from residents and staff. We’re booked to appear again in June.
Welcome to our brand new website and our first blog!
We’re a relatively new band but we are already getting lots of repeat bookings mainly in and around South Oxfordshire. This has encouraged us to set up our own website which we hope you like!
